- Spread it without tension. A cloth this light is mobile in the hand, so a spreader that carries it works better than one that pulls it.
- Settle the face before the marker. The twill runs one way, and a light cloth shows a reversed panel sooner than a heavy one.
- Press through a cloth, if at all. Viscose marks and glazes under a direct plate more readily than cotton does.
- Protect the drape during construction. Over-pressing and heavy bagging-out both stiffen the cloth, which defeats the reason for choosing it.
- Trim the banded selvedge before the lay. Left in, the banding ends up in a seam and rubs.
